Dan Brennan

President

Dan was raised in Northern California where he worked in law enforcement until beginning his career in the financial services business in 1979 with Mutual Benefit Life. In 1983 Dan joined New England Life in Boston, Massachusetts as the second Vice President of Education and Development where he was responsible for representative development and Firm productivity throughout the United States.

In 1988, Dan relocated to Toledo, Ohio and founded the Brennan Financial Group. In 1996, Dan moved Brennan Financial Group to Cleveland until January 2009, when he retired as Managing Partner and returned to his personal practice. In August 2010, Dan joined Skylight Financial Group as the Chief Marketing Officer and was subsequently appointed Chief Operating Officer in 2016.

Dan has been active in community affairs serving as President of the Toledo Ballet Association, Chairman of the Lucas Metropolitan Housing Authority, Chairman of the University of Toledo, Gay Games 9 board member and Co-Chairman of the Gay Games 9 Development Committee. He has also served as President of Little Italy Redevelopment Corporation and was a board member of The Music Settlement.  Currently, Dan serves as a member of the City of Cleveland Civil Service Commission.

Kathy Barnes

Secretary Treasurer

Cincinnati native Kathy Barnes graduated from Miami of Ohio with a degree in sports medicine and has been Skylight Financial Group’s Chief Financial Officer for several years. As Secretary Treasurer of the Skylight Foundation, Kathy manages all forecasting and budgeting for the firm, as well as oversees the preparation of all financial reporting.

Kathy remains very active with her community, supporting organizations like the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Outside the office, Kathy is a cross-fit enthusiast that enjoys cheering on the Bengals and spending time with her husband Bobby and their children JJ, Lexi, and Chase.

Justin Carson

Board Member

Justin Carson is Partner at Platform Beer Co and Founder of JC Beer Tech, a draft line installation and cleaning business founded in 2000. JC Beer Tech has over 50 employees and operates in seven states. Justin is currently redeveloping multiple buildings on Lorain Avenue in a long neglected area of Ohio City, (SoLo) South Lorain. He is also opening an innovative brewery in November 2015. The new brewery, Gypsy, to be housed in one of the largest pre-prohibition brewery buildings, will be a brew share facility enabling breweries across the country to share space and brew in a large facility.

Jonathan L. Goldston

Board Member

Jonathan Goldston joined the Skylight Financial Group in 2002 where he serves as a Partner and Financial Planner. His dedication to the financial services industry has led to successes that include serving on the Skylight Financial Group Advisory Board and being a MassMutual Leader's Qualifier since 2004. Jonathan was also recognized as Skylight Financial Group’s Rising Leader, Bronze Associate of the Year, and appointed Partner in 2016. As part of his service to the community, Jonathan volunteers for the benefit of the Hattie Larlham Foundation and has served as Chairperson of the Sugar Bush Golf Classic since 2009.  Jonathan is also active in training and joint work within the firm to mentor new associates.

Jonathan graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University with a bachelor's degree in Marketing Management and played inter-collegiate golf. He resides in Aurora with his wife Antonette, along with their daughter and two sons.

Jeff Logan

Board Member

Former Ohio State University football star Jeff Logan is a financial advisor and brand ambassador at Skylight Financial Group.  He has become a trusted advisor to many professionals over the past 35+ years.

He married Dena (Barry) Logan a former OSU cheerleader and they have two grown children, Katie and Christopher.  Along with his siblings, Jeff founded the Logan Family Foundation in 2002 with a mission of helping families and children in the community where they were raised and where they reside today.  Through fund raising efforts, including an annual sports celebrity golf outing, the foundation has funded over $500,000 in grants. Jeff was recently honored by the Ohio State Alumni Association with the Mershon Award for exceptional leadership and service to Ohio State.  He also received the Chapter Leadership Award from the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame in New York for his service to the Columbus Chapter.

​Jeff lives in Dublin, OH and is actively involved with Jack Nicklaus’s Memorial Tournament and is a three-time former club champion at Muirfield Village.

Dr. Donald Malone, MD

Board Member

Dr. Donald A. Malone, Jr., MD, is currently Professor and Chair of Psychiatry and Psychology at Cleveland Clinic. Since 2013, he has also served as President of Cleveland Clinic Lutheran Hospital. Dr. Malone serves as Chair of the Strategic Space Planning Committee for the Clinic.

 

Dr. Malone graduated with his MD degree from Northeastern Ohio University’s College of Medicine in 1985. There he was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha. Following his medical school training, he did one year of internship in internal medicine followed by a psychiatric residency at Massachusetts General Hospital. He was Chief Resident of the acute psychiatry service at Massachusetts General during his final year. Since 1989, he has been at Cleveland Clinic. 

 

Dr. Malone has been very active in research, education and various local and national committees. He has held positions in the Ohio Psychiatric Association, American Psychiatric Association, International Society of ECT and Neurostimulation,  and American College of Psychiatrists.

Dale Seymour

Board Member

Dale J. Seymour is a native of Toledo, Ohio and began his financial services career in January 1969.  He invested 11 years building long-term client relationships and in April 1980 began his career with The MassMutual Life Insurance Company as the General Agent in Toledo, Ohio. During his 32-year career as a General Agent for MassMutual, the firm continued to grow under his leadership and received multiple honors and awards.  Upon retirement from his long career as a General Agent, Dale committed himself to his personal clientele along with his son Brett and daughter Shelly in helping educate their clients and strengthening their financial situations.

​Civically and professionally, Dale has served on numerous boards and currently is a member of the Board and Executive Committee at St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee, Ohio and a member of the St. Luke’s Hospital Foundation Board.  He was also a founding sponsor of University of Toledo Center of Family and Privately-held Business, as well being the past chair of the University of Toledo Foundation.

Dale lives in Sylvania Township, with his wife Phyllis and is the father of 3 children, Shelly, Brett, and Marc.  He is also the grandfather to 8 wonderful grandchildren and enjoys spending considerable amounts of time with family and friends.

Graham Veysey

Board Member

Graham Veysey is an entrepreneur and Emmy Award winning video producer. He is the Principal and Creative Director of North Water Partners, a media production firm, operates the Ohio City Firehouse, and worked to develop Hingetown, part of the Ohio City neighborhood.

 

He was part of the group that started the Ohio City Farm, one of the largest urban farms in the U.S. Veysey is a double-digit marathon runner and mountain climber having summited two of the seven highest summits in the world. Graham also consults for the Aspen Institute and serves on the boards of Policy Matters Ohio and the Bidwell Foundation.
